I was really inspired by the everyday African woman on the street. Where she was going, what her job was, what her thoughts were about her image and what she thought about comfort and wearing what’s fashionable and different. As Africa as a whole is still quite conservative, how far would a working young female push the envelope?
In my collection i really wanted her to be the odd one out in the crowd with a strong tribal presence and western aftertastes. I wanted to make jewellery pieces that were like no other, that people would ask about and ponder.
